Los algoritmos evolutivos o algoritmos genéticos han sido usados en una gran diversidad de problemas de optimización en diferentes campos de la Ingeniería Civil. En el campo del análisis y el diseño estructural, se encuentran las vigas y columnas de hormigón reforzado, las cerchas planas y espaciales y en programas más complejos y elaborados por la cantidad inmensa de variables a manejar, se encuentran los pórticos planos y espaciales. En la primera parte de este artículo*, se mostró en forma general cómo es el manejo y tratamiento de las herramientas matemáticas de que está compuesto un algoritmo genético, y se utilizó en la optimización de una función matemática simple. En esta segunda parte, se muestra en detalle la optimización del peso de las cerchas, cumpliendo requisitos de desplazamientos nodales y esfuerzos axiales en las barras, y se analizan los resultados arrojados con respecto a los de otros autores. Abstract The evolutionary algorithms or genetic algorithms have been used in a great diversity of problems of optimization in different fields of the civil engineering. In the field of the analysis and the structural design, they are the beams and columns of reinforced concrete, the plane and space truss and in program more complex and elaborated by the immense quantity of variables to manage, they are the plane and space frames. In the first part of this article, it was shown in general form as it is the handling and treatment of the mathematical tools that it is compound a genetic algorithm, and it was used in the optimization of a simple mathematical function. In this party of the second part, the optimization of the weight of the truss, completing requirements of nodal displacements and axial efforts in the bars, it is shown with detail and the heady results are analyzed with those of other authors
